The Stanley Cup Playoffs are still in full swing, but that hasn't stopped the 24 teams that are done playing from making sweeping changes.

There have been coaching changes, general manager firings, and some drama at the Draft Lottery. Let's dive into everything that's happened so far:

2025 NHL offseason updates

  • The Utah Hockey Club changed its name to the Utah Mammoth.
  • The New York Islanders won the Draft Lottery, despite having just a 3.5 percent chance before the draw.
  • The New York Rangers fired Peter Laviolette and replaced him with Mike Sullivan, who departed the Pittsburgh Penguins bench a few days prior.
  • The Isles and the Los Angeles Kings are both looking for a new general manager after replacing Lou Lamoriello and Rob Blake, respectively.
  • The Philadelphia Flyers are looking for a new head coach after they parted ways with John Tortorella at the end of the season.
  • The Anaheim Ducks fired Greg Cronin and haven't named a successor. Rumors are that they are looking at Joel Quenneville.
  • The Boston Bruins have not hired a new head coach yet. Joe Sacco was the interim bench boss at the end of the season but is unlikely to be back.
  • The Seattle Kraken let go of head coach Dan Bylsma after one season. They also moved Ron Francis from general manager to President of Hockey Operations. Jason Botterill is the new GM in Seattle.
  • The Vancouver Canucks and Rick Tocchet ended their marriage. Tocchet had the option to come back, but chose to vacate the position. No new head coach has been hired.
